EW Scripps Washington Bureau, Washington, DC | July 2017 – present

National investigative reporter. Find, pitch and compose investigative video reports for Scripps News and Scripps-owned television stations. Report live on air multiple times daily and occasionally anchor Scripps News shows from Washington. The investigations always aim to break ground and hold the powerful accountable.. Pieces range from quick enterprise day turns bouncing off breaking news to months long investigations filmed with a team all over the country. Write companion articles for Scripps digital platforms. Experience partnering with ProPublica and other outlets. 

Cox Media Group Washington News Bureau, Washington, DC | Oct. 2011 – July 2017

Senior news producer / multiplatform journalist.  Editorial content supervisor and creator for 12-person news bureau. Ensure the bureau offers CMG TV and radio properties investigative, enterprise, exclusive  and local content daily. Lead pitching, reporting and executing of exclusive stories from the White House, Congress, courts and agencies. Shoot, write, edit and front enterprise stories of my own. Led effort to expand digital offerings using multiple Content Management Systems. Entrusted with bureau chief duties during extended absences of bureau chief. Manage internship program.

Capitol News Connection, Washington, DC | April 2011 – Sept. 2011

Congressional correspondent and assignment manager. Localized and enterprised stories in the U.S. House and Senate for subscribing radio and television stations across the country. Also serving as morning assignment editor, coordinating daily coverage for the bureau. Company ceased operations Sept. 30, 2011.


WVEC-TV, Norfolk, Va. (ABC affiliate) | Sept. 2006 - April 2011

Investigative and political reporter. Traveled to Haiti for two weeks as one-man-band to cover earthquake aftermath. Broke a list of exclusive stories including an NTSB safety system left off Norfolk's new light rail system, a pollutant poisoning a Chesapeake neighborhood that led to a state investigation and details of a police recruit death that led to the resignation of Norfolk's police chief. Lead reporter for 2008 presidential election and 2009 Virginia gubernatorial election, covered 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, and the 2007 Michael Vick dogfighting investigation.


Central Florida News 13, Orlando | July 2003 - Aug. 2006

General assignment reporter/NASA correspondent. Covered space shuttle return to flight after Columbia disaster, frequent extended live coverage of space shuttle and rocket launches, worked as one-man-band covering Brevard County, Florida, for Orlando’s 24-hour cable station.


KOMU-TV, Columbia, Missouri (NBC affiliate) | June 2002 - July 2003

Statehouse reporter. Assigned to cover the 2003 Missouri legislative session in the Jefferson City capitol bureau. Developed stories and sources with Missouri’s governor and legislative leaders.
